Coffee wood is an important product to make to a high quality standard, in order to be safe. the 4 things we do are unique, and make this all-natural product as good as it gets, while still being un-treated.
- Heritage: we sustainably harvest only 22 year old coffee trees, because they are nearing the end of their coffee yielding life and need to be re-planted, and also because the inner fibers are more densely knit and lend themselves to chewing. It is a hardwood, but breaks down malleably into fibers and crumbles. These are safe to consume and help the otherwise digestive process.
- Naturally dry: we only naturally dry, indoors, and de-humidified, which takes up to a year. We never accelerate the drying by ising kilns. That is ok for furniture, but not for the purpose of exerting pressure via chewing.
- US tech and QA: we use sophisticated infra-red scanning devices made in Oregon, to measure the precise moisture content of this species of wood. Only when it has dried naturally to our target range do we produce the sticks.
- Hand-finish, no cracks: We hand finish every piece, to a smooth and beautiful looking exterior, without cracks.
